ear Shirley, My grandparents are visiting us for Easter, and I want to surprise them with a beautiful table set up for lunch. Please suggest some ideas from your experience. I want them to reminisce about their younger days when they celebrated Easter with their friends. ~ DesignMinded

Dear DesignMinded,

Easter lunch is all about festive, spring colors and imagery; but be careful not to clutter up your table! Use a tablecloth in spring colors like pastel yellow, green, or pink. Scatter some Easter grass, silk flower petals or Easter egg confetti down the center of the table. That would be fun, wouldn’t it?

Help mom place your best dishes and glassware and use napkin rings at each setting for more elegance. Create a centerpiece with a basket or decorative box filled with Easter eggs, fresh spring flowers, bunnies, or chicks, and intersperse votive candles around the centerpiece. I always love candles on a table.

Remember to include personalized Easter place cards or chocolate eggs as place card holders.

If you want to really welcome the season with your lunch, tuck sprigs of fresh herbs like rosemary or mint into the napkins. The whole dining room will smell like spring!
